Role Overview

Reporting to the Director, Data Analytics & Media Intelligence, the Media Analyst plays a key role in preparing media coverage analysis reports for high-profile clients. This includes understanding client needs, designing and implementing reports, analyzing media coverage, and delivering actionable insights.

The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, editorial acumen, and a strong analytical mindset—both quantitative and qualitative. Attention to detail, superior organizational and time management skills, and a deep interest in news, social media, and digital analytics are essential.

This role requires collaboration across teams and departments and involves mentoring overseas colleagues to ensure high-quality media insights reports. If you're passionate about data-driven storytelling and media intelligence, this position is for you.

Key Responsibilities

Media Monitoring & Analysis

  • Track and evaluate media coverage across print, online, broadcast, blogs, and social media.
  • Apply analytical methods and use a mix of data sources and tools to craft executive-level reports featuring data visualizations and insightful written analysis.

Project & Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of client reports, including data gathering, media monitoring, sentiment analysis, and crafting summaries and insights.
  • Manage a portfolio of client reports, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, and profitability.

Collaboration & Oversight

  • Mentor and support overseas analysts, reviewing their work for quality, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Document report creation processes and train team members to ensure seamless collaboration and process consistency.
  • Serve as a backup and quality control reviewer on reports as needed.

General Duties

  • Take on additional tasks as required to support the Media Insights Group’s goals.

Qualifications & Requirements

Communication & Analytical Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.

Organizational Abilities

  • Ability to thrive under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Educational Background

  • While a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is beneficial, we welcome applicants from diverse educational backgrounds with the necessary skills and experience for the role.

Experience & Technical Proficiency

  • At least one year of experience in data analysis, market research, digital marketing, media monitoring, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with a basic understanding of statistics.

Work Flexibility

  • Willingness to occasionally work outside of normal hours to meet urgent client needs.

Client Communication

  • Experience delivering consultative advice to clients via phone, video, and email.

Desirable Skills (a plus, but not required)

  • Python, Pandas, or Streamlit for data science and internal application development.
  • Power BI or other dashboard-building platforms.
  • Excel Macros to automate manual processes.
